Hip to Gable Dormer Loft Conversion

This London Loft conversion is based in Merton Park, on a semi-Detached property. As a semi detached it allowed up to 50m3 of space to be added, which essentially means every inch of Loft space was used in this construction. This hip to gable loft conversion project was part of a joint project for this client and their neighbours. Though they were based on identical properties the results as with every conversion are very different. 

Along with the clients at this property, we amended their plans during the build to create one large bedroom and bathroom, as opposed to the Bedroom and office that was in the original drawings we created. 

The beauty of Permitted development rights is that the internal layout is fully flexible and can be moulded alongside the works, even some of the exterior view can be amended. Our clients here opted for a larger window in the bedroom than in the plans. Compared to Full planning, that restricts what can and cannot be built based on your approved drawings, permitted development allows far greater flexibility. 

The result here is a much larger bedroom, more natural light from 3 sides of the room, space for storage and bespoke carpentry and even room to grow into it as well. A lovely space created in only 8 weeks, with no planning permission needed, a simple process, but great impact.
